Taran's main habitat is the Azov Sea and the Black Sea basins. Taran has an elongated tall body, which appears compressed on its sides. Its scales are silvery on its sides. The upper part of the head and back are dark. Adult fish can reach a maximum of 35 cm in length. Taran is perfectly suited for fishing using a float or a bottom rig.
