Atlantic redfish
Sebastes norvegicus lives in the northern Atlantic Ocean, in the Barents, Norwegian and Greenland Seas. Usually keeps flocks at depths of 100-500 m, but can go down to 3000 m. Flattened at the sides of the body is bright red, red-orange, or bright pink. The belly is lighter in colour. All fins are orange-red, equipped with sharp needles and poisonous glands. The lower jaw is protruding forward. The eyes are large and convex. Average specimens are usually 3-4 kg, large ones up to 15 kg, with a body length of about one meter. The trophies of this species are valuable.
