
Striped Bass (Striper)


The Striper (lat. Morone saxatilis) is a relative of the European sea bass. It lives mainly in the Atlantic coast of North America, where it can also be found in fresh water far from the coast. The striped bass has an elongated, laterally compressed body. The back is colored in olive-green tones, the sides are fawn with clearly visible longitudinal stripes, the belly is silvery-white. It is significantly longer than the white bass. The average weight of an adult fish is about 20 kg. The maximum is over 50 kg.
