Redear sunfish
The natural habitat of Redear Sunfish (lat. Lepomis microlophus) is fresh water bodies on the east coast of the United States. Over time, due to its popularity as a fishing target, it has spread throughout almost the entire territory of the United States. It has a very high, laterally compressed body. The color is greenish with blue-green vertical stripes. The gill covers are blue. Behind them is a red spot, from which this fish got its name. It prefers deeper location and feeds from the bottom. The average weight of an adult fish is 0.2-1.6 kg. The maximum weight is 2.9 kg.
