Leather Carp
It mainly differs from other carp species due to its absence of scales. Theoretically a leather carp may have some scales, however the principal difference lies in the total absence of the dorsal scale sequence or in its intermittences. From head, up to dorsal fin, there are absolutely no scales. Leather carp grow slower than other carp species, which is caused by a reduced number of red blood cells. This fish needs more oxygenated water. A true leather carp is not as strong as his fellows.
