Dolly Varden Trout
Salvelinus malma is one of the largest chars. It is widespread in the north Pacific, along the Asian coast from Chaun Lip to Korea and the U.S. coastline from Alaska to California. The Dolly Varden trout has a tall, flattened body. The upper part of the head and body are dark blue, the sides are bluish and the belly is silvery white. There are numerous small white or yellowish round spots on the back and sides of the body. During spawning, the sides of the fish become greenish-blue, and the belly red. Both float and spinning rigs can be used to catch Dolly Varden trout.
