Shorthorn sculpin
Myoxocephalus scorpius is found in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Iceland and in the White, Barents, Kara and Baltic Seas at depths up to 60 m. The variegated color of the Shorthorn sculpin directly depends on the color of the bottom and can vary from yellow to dark brown, with an abundance of spots and stripes. It has strongly developed pectoral fins and a broad head with a large mouth. There are many small spines along the lateral line of the body and scales are absent. The Shorthorn sculpin is one of the largest representatives of its family. The length of an adult can reach 65 cm.
