Flathead Catfish
The natural habitat of Flathead catfish (lat. Pylodictis olivaris) included the Mississippi and rivers flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. However, since the middle of the last century, these fish have gradually spread throughout North America. Today, they are found in lakes and rivers from Canada to Mexico. The flathead catfish has a round body with a flat head. The back is spotted, olive-green, the color of the underside varies from white to yellow. Old males have a darker color. The flathead catfish is a strong and voracious predator. The average weight of an adult usually ranges from 5 to 20 kg, but individual specimens can reach 60 kg.
