
Icelandic scallop


Occurs in the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans and the North Atlantic. It forms dense colonies in areas of irregular seabed, in areas of active water movement at depths of 5 – 100 m. The shell is large, dense, rounded with a flattened lower shell. Its upper shell is reddish with varying degrees of intensity, while the lower shell is lighter. The maximum size of the shell is 18 cm.
