Black-spined Herring
Fish of the herring family. Distributed in the Caspian Sea basin. It feeds on small crustaceans and insect larvae. Black-spined herring have high bodies that are compressed from the sides. The body is shortened in the tail area and the wedge-shaped head with large eyes has weakly developed teeth. The length of an adult fish can reach 35 cm, and weight - more than 400g.
