Black Sea trout
An anadromous fish. It lives off the Black Sea coast and can also be found in the Sea of Azov. It feeds on fish, invertebrates, and flying insects. The Black Sea brown trout has a long body, round in cross-section, with a tall caudal fin. It is covered with small scales. The back and upper part of the head are dark gray, the sides are silvery with star shaped spots. The head is small and wedge shaped. During spawning, the sides of the fish become darker. An adult can reach over a meter in length and a weight of around 25 kg.
