Black crappie
The Black carppie (lat. Pomoxis nigromaculatus), one of two species of the Pomoxis genus that live in North America. It is widely distributed throughout the United States, but its native range is in the eastern United States and Canada. Crappie are a freshwater fish. They prefer bodies of water with little or no current. It is attracted to areas of water overgrown with grass. The tall, laterally compressed body of the black crappie is colored silvery-gray or green and densely covered with dark spots. The black crappie differs in color and a shorter body compared to the white crappie. The average weight of an adult is 0.5-1.5 kg. Individual specimens can reach 2.7 kg.
