Black Buffalo
Just like the largemouth buffalo, this fish was imported into Russia from North America in 1971. It prefers reservoirs with a heavily silted bottom. It feeds on plankton, insect larvae, small mollusks and aquatic plants. The black buffalo has a long dorsal fin, a rounded body and a compact head. Its body color is dark, greyish-green on the back and sides. The average length of an adult fish is about 52 cm, weight up to 7 kg. Occasionally, there are species weighing up to 20 kg.
