
Thorny skate


The Thorny skate (lat. Amblyraja radiata) is widespread in the northern Atlantic. It is also found in the waters of the Barents Sea, the Kara and the White Sea. He lives benthically at depths up to 400 meters. The Thorny skate has a diamond-shaped body. Its back is olive brown with a pattern of light and dark spots. The ventral side is pale. He can reach a body length of 0.8 m and a weight of 2 kg.
